Futuristic City Runner
This game prototype is based off of my Game Concept 1. In its current state, it is a parkour city exploration game. You run, jump, slide, and climb around the city exploring its different parts. You find your goal by following different colored lights, in search for 4 orbs.
Game Play
You use WASD to move, SPACE to jump, SHIFT to sprint, C to slide, and F to climb over specific tall objects (hitting escape allows mouse access).

Final Prototype Reflection:
Is it representative of the core loop you wanted?
Did it give you an answer to the question you posed, and if so, what is the answer?
Remember the answer can be negative (i.e.: "this idea is not fun") and the prototype can still be a success!
How would you change it, if at all?
Where would you take the idea next?
The final game had a lot of the same aspects as the original core gameplay loop, but there were a few things missing. It had the exploration, parkour, and fast paced elements as the original loop, it just didn't have the main chasing element that I wanted. This has a lot to do with the goal or objective, I think that part was missing from the original. Overall I think it matches a lot of what I originally intended for the game.
I do think that this prototype gave me an answer to my question: Can a parkour exploration game be fun? I think that the answer is yes. I had fun playing the game, and it would be even more fun for someone who has never played it before. I do think that there is definitely room for improvement and that it could be more fun. I think this would happen if there were more elements to explore in the game, and I made it more visually interesting.. Overall, as a brief concept the core gameplay is fun and enjoyable.
I don't think I would change anything in the final product, but I would change how I did certain things while making the game. I think that the process I took to make this city was pretty inefficient and disorganized. I had a lot of 3D block objects in one group and it was hard to tell what was what, I had no real process. By the end I developed more of a process and had organized more of the different pieces, I should have done this from the beginning. I also think this would have allowed me to make the buildings more detailed. I also think that if I had more time I would have learned how to make the whole environment in blender then transfered it over to Godot, that would have been the best case scenario.
If I were to build off this assignment, I would add materials, textures, and additional lighting to the environment. I wanted to do this originally but did not have time to implement it. I think this alone would add another dimension to the world and give it more character. I would also take the time to make a light trail representing the dog for the player to chase, with different routes throughout the city. I think these elements would create a very complete prototype that would be closer to my original concept. Beyond that, some more complicated additions would be a 3D model of the main character, and expanding the city a lot more. I would also like to add an upgrade system, which you can buy from the market place I added into the game.
