Reflection
Reflect on your concept demo by answering the following questions:
Is it representative of the core loop you wanted?
Did it give you an answer to the question you posed, and if so, what is the answer
Remember the answer can be negative (i.e.: "this idea is not fun") and the prototype can still be a success!
How would you change it, if at all?
Where would you take the idea next?
The final product of my game has consists of some parts of my original core game loop, but it is not exactly the same. Originally, I wanted the player to be able to switch characters to attack zombies while going through and completing a level. I made the different characters and switching between them and the attacking the zombie part successfully. I wasn’t able to create a full level, but I did manage to make one scene where the characters and combat can be displayed.
My original question was can a game about in depth characters come across well and be as fun for the player as it is for the developer. I had a lot of fun creating, drawing, and animating the characters. I put a lot of thought into every aspect of them. I do think that some of this comes across in the game. You can see the different characters and their art and powers. You might not be able to see as much of the thought process that goes into it, but I would say that most of it is pretty apparent.
There is not much I would change about this prototype. I think that everything came out really well, I love how the art, animation, and attacks came out which is the bulk of the game. The only think I would change is the zombie and background art. I think I could have spent more time on that part.
If I were to continue to work on this game I would want to create another enemy that shoots projectiles, and expand the level. I originally wanted this game to be a platformer, so it would be fun to create a longer level that follows the school theme. This would add to the story and give the player more things to explore. I also want to add a bit of polish by making the UI look cleaner and add particle effects to the attacks, switching players, and killing enemies.
