Week 5

This week I started a new godot project, and I am hoping it will be my final version. I tried earlier to use blender to model the experience, and then put it into godot. I was having trouble with putting the project into godot, specifically separating the different objects and layers. I decided to make this version completely in godot, which has seemed to work well so far. I finished the basic shape of the room for the experience, I just need to expand on the sculpture parts and add the lighting.

I think that this clean start sets me up really well for my work in future weeks. I’ll be able to manipulate the environment and lights in a way that I couldn't before. I also think that this puts me on track for the rest of the project. I have a good base to work on, now i just need to expand on it.

This week, I continued to look at light and space artists, specifically James Turell, as inspiration for this new design. I wanted to be inspired by them, but still have the work be my own. I think that I have achieved a good balance of this so far.

I’ve started to replicate some of the lighting techniques that Turell has done but it is still in progress. My goal is to flesh that out more next week. I am excited to use the contrast of dark and light in my work, which requires using multiple light and space artists' work as inspiration.
